Removing the "Recently Modified" pages on a page

When you create a page in a SharePoint site, you will be presented with the "Recently Modified" section on the left hand side. This is not necessarily something that you want the general user to see. A simple bit of code in a hidden web part can sort that for you:

Sometimes on Pages that are created in SharePoint, you will see a “Recently Modified” list of other pages across that site in the Quick Launch. This is by design and there is no out of the box setting to remove it. A Content Editor Web part needs to be added with CSS code to remove it. To do this, carry out the steps below:

1.       Go to the page in question

2.       Click on Site ActionsàEdit Page

3.       Click on a blank area on the page, preferably at the bottom of all the content

4.       Click on Insert

5.       Select Web Part

6.       Select “Media and Content” on the left hand side

7.       Select the “Content Editor” web part and click Ok

8.       Once inserted, click on the arrow to the right of the header of the content editor web part

9.       Choose “Edit Web Part”

10.   A link becomes available in the web part “Click here to add content”. Click this

11.   When the cursor is flashing in the web part, click on the “Format Text” menu on the top navigation pane.

12.   Click on HTMLàEdit HTML Source

13.   The window that pops up should be blank. If it’s not, ensure that you have the cursor in the blank area of the Content Editor Web Part.

14.   Paste the following and click OK.

15.  On the right hand side, in the Web Part Properties section, you need to remove the visibility on the web part that you just created.

16.  Expand the “Appearance” sub section

17.  Under “Chrome Type”, select None

18.  Click OK

19.  Click Save & Close in the Ribbon

The recently modified changes should now be gone
